Judge accused of 'victim-blaming' over rape comments

Judge Lindsey Kushner is warning that drunk women are putting themselves at greater risk of rape was "victim-blaming", a police commissioner has said. The female judge said women were entitled to "drink themselves into the ground" but their "disinhibited behaviour" could put them in danger. But the judge said she did not think it was wrong for a judge "to ask women to take actions to protect themselves".
Judge Kushner, 64, made the courtroom plea and she jailed a man for six years for raping an 18-year-old woman in Manchester last year.
The mother of two, who has sat as a senior circuit judge since 2002, acknowledged judges have been criticised for "putting more emphasis on what girls should and shouldn't do than on the act and the blame to be apportioned to rapists".
"There is absolutely no excuse and a woman can do with her body what she wants and a man will have to adjust his behaviour accordingly."
But she added "as a woman judge" it would "be remiss" if she did not plead with women to protect themselves from predatory men who ''gravitate'' towards drunken females.

I recently went vegeterian. For a couple of months the idea of being vegeterian or vegan was on my mind but I didn’t know if I could do it. Before being vegeterian I didn’t eat too much meat or fish anyway because I felt bad everytime I ate it, but sometimes when I was hungry and I didn’t know what to eat I would eat whip or ham. Whenever I ate out (in a restaurant) I would always order something vegetarian because it draw my attention. So last monday I finally went vegetarian and I’m very happy about it. I have to have a healthy diet and I have to be careful about getting my proteins and stuff now that I don’t eat fish or meat. Actually I only have one exception, and it’s sushi. I couldn’t live without sushi, it’s my favorite food. I don’t eat it very often and it’s raw fish so it will help me get proteins from time to time. I hope I can be vegetarian all my life or at leat a long time because it breaks my heart to eat animals on a regular bases.

My Say 2

Sometimes I think that teenagers these days are very dependents ones from others, whether it’s their girlfriend/boyfriend or just friends. There is young people that look for their happiness in others and they don’t realize that only themselves can make them truly happy. If someone from your surrounding does something that can make you unhappy then you are vulnerable because not everything in life will be like you want it to be. Everyone has to build their own happiness from inside, without depending on other people or material things because at the end of the day the only thing that’s going to be with ourselves always is our mind and we have to take care of it.

My Say 1

I think teachers sometimes put way to much pressure on us, students. They can forget what it’s like to be a teenager and they are very harsh on us. We don’t have just one subject, and we also have things to do outside of school. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t give us homework or things like that because we are in school to learn and that is a way of learning. But if we don’t do a task or if we don’t undersand something, their job is to help us, not give us back and say that we are not putting enough effort. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. It’s not pleasant for us to fail or not be able to do the things we are supposed to do, so if we do fail it’s because we don’t understand something and it has to be explained to us again, or slowlier or with other words until we get it.

Ted Talk

This designer, Isaac Mizrahi talks about how we gets inspiration from everything. He says that sometimes he is in a taxi and he sees something that gets his attention so he makes the driver stop so he can take a better look at whatever that was. He also says he gets very inspired from watching movies when he can’t sleep. He observes the female roles in the film and this gives him new ideas.

I think we all get inspired by little random things we see and sometimes we don’t even notice.
