Will Venice be loved to death?

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-38027025

Venice recently has witnessed protests against landlords in the city letting their apartments to tourist instead of venetians. At the moment there are 55,120 people living in Venice. But it's a countdown, hundreds of people leave each year. In the past the population dropped suddenly because of the plague, now there is another plague, tourism.  French novelist Victor Hugo once said there are two things about a historic building: its use and its beauty. Its use is a matter for it's owner, but the beauty belongs to everyone. Some venetians make their money out of tourism meanwhile other businesses leave and their places are taken by more hotels. cruise ship and holiday homes.
