Final Reflection

I can see an improvement on my level of english this year, my vocabulary has gotten better and I've learned a lot of new words. Now I speak english more fluently. I think the best activities that show my level of english are oral presentations and writings. The same activities have helped me improve my english because they require a little bit of everything (vocabulary, grammar, verbs) so they are very useful. The activities I didn't find useful were from the grammar book and the dossier, I think they don't really matter because in real life we won't use spread sentences like in those exercices. The activities I'd like to repeat next year are oral presentations to speak more fluently and writings and readings, because we'll have to know how to write and read well in english in the future.

Albino orangutan

An animal organisation rescued a rare albino orangutan from the jungle in Indonesia. A veterinarian said that she was in very bad condition and sick when people rescued her. She was very stressed, had skin and hair problems, and suffered from dehydration. The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, which found her, is asking the public to suggest names for the animal.

Three suns in Mongolia

A weird celestial phenomenon appeared in Mongolia, and it looked like there were three suns in the sky. The middle sun was the one we usually see every day (the real one), but the ones on each side were the sun’s smaller reflections. A local meteorological centre explained that the optical phenomenon it's called anthelion, which means that the reflection is caused by sunshine high in the sky and light passing through snow crystals in the air. An anthelion can appear when the temperature is lower than -30°C, and the air is filled with clouds, vapour and ice crystals.

Cholera in Yemen

Cholera has been found in Yemen. Around 9,000 people this desease. Yemen can't help everybody get well because it doesn't have enough resources and there is not enough room in hospitals for everyone. One billion dollars is promised to the UN (united nations) because it is asking for money.

Tornado in Oklahoma

Last Tuesday, one person died after a tornado struck houses in Oklahoma, USA. The storm destroyed about 40 houses and damaged another 75, as well as knocked out the telephone service into and out of the city. Aid workers brought food supplies into the area for the local residents.

Gap Year

I plan on doing a gap year when I finish batxillerat. Mainly because I don’t know what to do after that and I want some time to clear my mind and make a decision. It will be a gap year of work to gain some laboral experience. I plan on working in Sephora - a make-up store - in Barcelona or Girona. I want to be a make-up artist so this job it’s not far of my goal because I’ll learn about the brands and the products. I will also do client’s make-up if they ask for it. I will lear of all of this and it will help me in future jobs. My plan is to work there during the school year, from september to june approximately. I’ll earn some money so that I can go to a make-up school later.

My future

I often think about my future and what do I want to do with it. Now more than ever we have to choose the subjects and what we want to do in school to get into university or something like that. I want to be a make up artist, I've known that since 3rd of eso when for some reason something clicked in my mind and I realised that what I am good at and what I enjoy doing it's make up, so I will persue make up as a career. But sometimes I can't avoid thinking about what if make up doesn't go well? What if I can't do make up anymore? That's the reason I am doing batxillerat, to have options and maybe go to University. If I do choose to go to university, the degrees I will be taking are a degree in history or in philosophy. The two things interest me a lot and I don't know which one I would want to know more. I haven't thought of what would I do when I finish either of the careers, I don't think I want to become a teacher so I don't know what would I do. But all of this is only my second option first of all I want to try and be a make up artist because that is the goal of my life. I adore doing make up and I could never get tired of it. I will probably want to work in a magazine doing editorial make up or in a film set in movies and shows doing characters make up.

Vegetarian update

It's been a few months since I became a vegetarian. So far I really like it and I haven't seen anything negative. Everything has been great. I have not lost any energy which was the part that most worried me because I am very little and skinny and I don't want to lose energy or get sick because of not eating meat. I honestly haven't noticed any difference in my metabolism or in my body; the only thing I've noticed has changed are my pimples because I don't get them as much as are used to. I've read it's because of meat because it has a lot of grease and that's what gave me pimples. The biggest thing I've noticed it more personal and subjective and it's that I feel more happy with myself because I don't feel as guilty as I used to feel. I am very happy with my choice and I don't think I will eat meat anymore or any time soon. I am thinking I'll probably go vegan once my body stops growing and it becomes an adult body because I'll be sure that I don't need as much protein and energy as I need now so I won't be as worried to get sick or ill.

Where do I get my inspiration from?

I often get inspired by other things than make up. I found a lot of inspiration in flowers, trees and nature. I really like nature because there are a lot of colours and colour combinations that I can use later and I know that will look good. My other big font of inspiration is other other artists. I love to see what others create. I imagine what were they thinking when they created that so I can think about similar things and create my own art. I also like to take someone's concept and make it mine changing things. Another way that I get inspired is by looking at stuff I have a already done in the past so I'll try to make it better and change things. Music inspires me a lot as well. The things I create depend on the mood I am in. If I feel very happy I probably do something very colourful and with a lot of shapes and different things. If I'm feeling more sad I'll do something more simple. Also depending on the mood I am in the music I listen it's different so it will also affect me and make me create something more colourful or something more dark.

Judge accused of 'victim-blaming' over rape comments

Judge Lindsey Kushner is warning that drunk women are putting themselves at greater risk of rape was "victim-blaming", a police commissioner has said. The female judge said women were entitled to "drink themselves into the ground" but their "disinhibited behaviour" could put them in danger. But the judge said she did not think it was wrong for a judge "to ask women to take actions to protect themselves".
Judge Kushner, 64, made the courtroom plea and she jailed a man for six years for raping an 18-year-old woman in Manchester last year.
The mother of two, who has sat as a senior circuit judge since 2002, acknowledged judges have been criticised for "putting more emphasis on what girls should and shouldn't do than on the act and the blame to be apportioned to rapists".
"There is absolutely no excuse and a woman can do with her body what she wants and a man will have to adjust his behaviour accordingly."
But she added "as a woman judge" it would "be remiss" if she did not plead with women to protect themselves from predatory men who ''gravitate'' towards drunken females.

My say 3

I recently went vegeterian. For a couple of months the idea of being vegeterian or vegan was on my mind but I didn’t know if I could do it. Before being vegeterian I didn’t eat too much meat or fish anyway because I felt bad everytime I ate it, but sometimes when I was hungry and I didn’t know what to eat I would eat whip or ham. Whenever I ate out (in a restaurant) I would always order something vegetarian because it draw my attention. So last monday I finally went vegetarian and I’m very happy about it. I have to have a healthy diet and I have to be careful about getting my proteins and stuff now that I don’t eat fish or meat. Actually I only have one exception, and it’s sushi. I couldn’t live without sushi, it’s my favorite food. I don’t eat it very often and it’s raw fish so it will help me get proteins from time to time. I hope I can be vegetarian all my life or at leat a long time because it breaks my heart to eat animals on a regular bases.

My Say 2

Sometimes I think that teenagers these days are very dependents ones from others, whether it’s their girlfriend/boyfriend or just friends. There is young people that look for their happiness in others and they don’t realize that only themselves can make them truly happy. If someone from your surrounding does something that can make you unhappy then you are vulnerable because not everything in life will be like you want it to be. Everyone has to build their own happiness from inside, without depending on other people or material things because at the end of the day the only thing that’s going to be with ourselves always is our mind and we have to take care of it.

My Say 1

I think teachers sometimes put way to much pressure on us, students. They can forget what it’s like to be a teenager and they are very harsh on us. We don’t have just one subject, and we also have things to do outside of school. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t give us homework or things like that because we are in school to learn and that is a way of learning. But if we don’t do a task or if we don’t undersand something, their job is to help us, not give us back and say that we are not putting enough effort. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. It’s not pleasant for us to fail or not be able to do the things we are supposed to do, so if we do fail it’s because we don’t understand something and it has to be explained to us again, or slowlier or with other words until we get it.

Ted Talk

This designer, Isaac Mizrahi talks about how we gets inspiration from everything. He says that sometimes he is in a taxi and he sees something that gets his attention so he makes the driver stop so he can take a better look at whatever that was. He also says he gets very inspired from watching movies when he can’t sleep. He observes the female roles in the film and this gives him new ideas.

I think we all get inspired by little random things we see and sometimes we don’t even notice.
